Hello one and all,

Right the Box is starting to cause me issues.

Had the car for a few years now. Was remapped by AMD shortly after purchase. BKD engine.

September last year the solenoids went on the DSG and this was fixed by a specialist. However, I think they did an ECU reset and wiped the 'remap' off the car as I now have the engine light and preheater light on. Also the car feels down on power.

My garage has read the error codes and they are saying that the warning lights are lit as the EGR and 'cat' has been removed / deleted. These were removed before the remap and there were no warning lights after the remap so looks like a trip back to AMD - this is not a problem for me.

Before I go though I have three issues to deal with. Two of the jobs are simple and I can do - a radiator hose is leaking and the CV boots need renewal (along with a flush and regrease of the joints). The third job is a bit more involved.

The recent dip in temp - ie to and below 4 degrees - has made the car very smokey. Blue / white smoke. Doesn't clear when warm. Had previously been been a smidge smokey when cold but this would clear as it warmed up. The rise in temperature last week cut the smoke output significantly but, as the temp has dropped again the smoke has increased.

My thoughts are the turbo is 'going'. Does this seem a reasonable desktop conclusion?

Is there anything to check before taking the turbo off? I need to deal with the other two issues before it goes near any rollers so there I can check then.

Secondly, can anyone recommend a source for the replacement turbo? I'm London area but mail order is fine too. I was happy with the dynamics of the remapped engine with decat pipe (standard Darkside Developments one) and the deleted EGR.

Cheers.
