I've been through a few cars in last few years 123d, R32 and currently an E82 135i

It's a 2011 manual, but now mulling RS3.

Anyone got views on this as they come across as a decent B road car and everyday car.

I know decent Ines are MK7R/M135i money.

Unless people would go S3/M6R and save ££

I have an 8V which is a great car, best I've ever owned actually. Been out on the road (and track) with owners of 8P's and there is not much in it imho apart from old tech in the 8P of course. I'd say JFDI.

TX.

The thing that draws me to a RS3 8P is the point to point pace with ease.

I need to local at options to see what tech was offered and look at the market

They munch driveshafts and brakes for fun. Watch out for any modified ones, issues are very common. Other than that, engine is identical to the 8V engine.

Sounds like another car that needs constant warranty cover and expense.

Audi didn't resolve issues under recalls then?

Don't get me wrong they're fantastic cars. I think the biggest problem would be finding an umolested one that's had all the recalls and required maintenance done, not been redlined from cold etc. If you buy wisely it should be trouble tree.

Nice car but the auto would put me off. Not fancy an S3 or a Golf R? Or even a manual TTRS?

If you're happy with the change to auto then go for it and good luck smile

Looks good. Wait for an approved used one with Recaro CS buckets. A friend just purchased an approved used one for 26k with buckets and low miles

I really like my 8P. I'm on my second one as I got a black one originally when I should have gone for red. It's the ultimate all rounder imo - I do 20k miles a year and it's perfectly comfortable doing that. It's very quick, small enough to park anywhere, and not that expensive to run considering the performance on offer.

The driveshaft issue happens mostly to modded cars using launch control, although it's not unknown for unmodded cars to let go. Keep a warranty for peace of mind I suppose.

Brake issues are resolved now as far as I'm aware. The discs are on their second revision now, I believe they took what they learnt from the 8V brakes and put it on the older car.

If you take it out on a wet day it'll smoke from the front end when you stop. It's normal, just some trapped water boiling off. But looks like it's about to breath fire biggrin

I went for the RS3 originally because everyone and his mum has a Golf R. Don't regret it one bit, the 8Ps are rare on the roads and I don't see that many 8Vs about either. 8Ps stand out a bit more thanks to the wider RS4 front end where as the 8V looks like an S3 with a couple more bits of trim. The exhausts are understated on the 8P but it's up to you whether this is good or bad.

Averaging 28-29. On a really sensible boring run with few stops I've seen 33. Pushing hard sees 22-23.

That's amazing. I've a friend with an 8V who's averaging about 21, but its almost all urban mileage.
