Morning all,

My 3 door 56 plate 1.9PD tdi Polo has developed a problem - the passenger door lock will not release either by using the remote central locking, or trying to open it "manually" from inside the car. When using the remote fob, there is a clicking/whirring from the passenger side but the "pin" in the door by the glass (that you see pop up/down when unlocking/locking) doesn't move. When I try pulling the release handle from the inside of the passenger door, there is a lot of resistance as if the handle can be pulled, but whatever it connects to is not moving (as with the remote, the "pin" does not move).

Previously (few years ago) the passenger side started playing up and I fitted a new central locking unit thing which "fixed" it. However, now its failed shut I cant even get the door card etc off to see whats going on.

How can I open the door?

Cheers

My Son has a '04 Polo and had the same problem with the rear driver's side door, he was happy to leave it not opening as it's the least used door anyway.

However it failed the MOT because of it (seems odd to me that it's an MOT requirement?). Given the difficulty of doing it I let the garage sort it out.

They got the door card off from inside the vehicle to get at it but I guess the rear door maybe easier to do? The lock had basically seized with corrosion (presumably water down the window seal?) couldn't have been a huge job as they didn't charge much labour but a new VW lock wasn't cheap.

Not sure if this is much help to you though?
