Vw mk5 1.6 FSI queries
Discussion
Hi guys, I've read in quite a few places that due to the stratified fuel injection that it's better to use a higher octane fuel? Can this be a supermarket higher octane or should it be higher quality such as shell? I have also read that you should use a specific type of oil and should I use a fuel cleaner on the car or will it have a negative effect? Quick overall is that the car has 86k 2005 and I have no idea about what the previous owners used, imagine they would have used a cheap supermarket fuel, thanks

You're right about the gutless engine. I think these FSI engines are prone to clogging up of the inlet manifold and ports. I'm thinking of trying some of this stuff https://reviveturbocleaner.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQiA5bvE... Has anyone else tried it?
My parents have had a 1.6 FSI Auto for the last 5 years or so and always had an engine management light on and could never track down the problem until they started using super unleaded and changing oil to Castrol Edge 5W30 and for the last 4 years they have had no management light problems.
