I recently put a deposit down on a 2013 RS4 with 5 year Audi warranty clearly stated on the original bill of sale (£900)

I called Audi, as something was nagging me, and I wanted to make sure I knew what could invalidate the warranty Well, I didn't even get that far as they said the warranty was only for three years!

Apparently the original owner would have been contacted affect 3 years to see if he wanted to extend. But, the car has a 5 year warranty! Audi are not having any of it. They directed me to the supplying dealer who rolled out the same line, ignoring the original bill of sale. Eventually they said that the customer may have cancelled the warranty and had been refunded. Well did he? We can't tell you, they replied, due to data protection.

Audi customer services said that they suspect that it was an admin error on behalf of the dealer but they can't guarantee it.

So, I'm left wondering what to do. The warranty was a big reason I chose this car. I know an Audi with less than 30k and 3 years old is unlikely to go massively wrong in the next 18 months but it was nice to have that peace of mind.

Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I really want this car!

I have a friend that spends his life fixing Audis, he'd find your faith amusing.

Back to the problem - tell the dealer you want a warranty chucked in or you'd like your deposit back please ?

Ha ha, oh dear.

I don't want a stty third party warranty. The only warranty I would accept is from the dealer themselves, which I don;t think they will do, or from Audi

They have offered me money off or deposit back. But I want that car with the Audi warranty.

Can't believe Audi are being such idiots

Ask them for a tip top warranty or take the deposit back. I concur it would be a good idea to get a warranty on the vehicle.

Audi don't care - they've had the money for the vehicle when it was new, what happens to it now they simply couldn't care less.

Dealer also doesn't care, its just stock gone from their forecourt if you buy, if not it'll soon go.

Have you spoken to Mondial?

I'm pretty sure, even if bought when the car is new, the 4th and 5th year warranty is administered by Mondial.

If you have no joy, then try to negotiate an extended warranty.

Hi

What constitutes a tip top warranty? They all look good, but most third hand experience I have has been dreadful.

Not any more. Now VWFS and about twice the cost to renew in my experience.

I would be pushing for the dealer to pay for the warranty. One year at least.

I assume not an Audi approved buy.

Hence buying thinking it has circa a year left on the manufacturer warranty relevant. The VWFS warranty as good as IMO, but is going to have a four figure price tag that could well be close to starting with a two on an RS.

How a purchase option could have got cancelled post sale is a mystery. I do find that hard to beleive.

I took out a third party warranty on my RS5 when it hit 3 years old, cost about £700-750 if memory serves. Was very comprehensive including the nav etc. Audi quoted me something silly like you say safely into 4 figures.

I took out 5 extended warranty on my S4 at time of purchase.

Looking back through my paperwork, there's nothing I'd consider a "bill of sale". I have a range of "orders" as there were inevitably some spec changes between my initial ordering and finally taking delivery. Possibly you're looking at an 'order' that was subsequently amended by the first purchaser to remove the extended warranty?

What there absolutely *should* be is a warranty certificate: Mine is on the last page of a personalized red A5-sized "welcome booklet" with "Welcome Silentbrown" or similar on front. The back page clearly shows the delivery date and start/finish of warranty. (This was on a '2015 car, BTW)

Is this car being supplied approved used or is it bought from an indy?
