My old man used to have a 2006 VW touareg 3.0 V6, loved it and thinking of getting a V10 touareg myself. As standard they have a manual high/low range gearbox with a manual locking centre diff, with a rare option of a rear locking diff.
I know the Q7 and the cayenne are very similar, but does the Q7 have a similar manual high/low/locking centre diff, or is it all automatic? I'm not sure how different the drivetrains are between the 3, thanks

The Touareg has the better system. On the Q7 it's fully automatic with no low transfer box or manually locking diffs.

However the Q7 has a much better system than, say, a Haldex system and unless you're planning on doing genuine off-roading it's more than up to the job.
