I've had my GTD since April 2016 and it's now done 10600 miles, the service info on the car says it's due a service in another 9000 miles but VW phones me today advising me my car was due it's 1st service in 3 weeks and asking if I'd like to book it in, I've fobbed them off for the time being but I'd like to know should I go with the car service info or the dealer saying it's due a service??

If it makes any difference I've got the car on a 4 year PCP at 10k miles a year and also have a service pack on it,

The car is set to Longlife Service regime which means it can go 2 years / 18,600 miles between services.

With the service plan I'm sure it has to be on time and Distance regime 1 year / 9,300 miles.

Therefore I would get it serviced now and ask them to switch it over from longlife to Time and Distance which will mean you get better value out of your service plan and probably better for you car too.

Mileage service intervals are based on 15,000km and 30,000 hence the 9,300 miles and 18,600 miles. VW UK round them up to 10k miles and 20k miles but cars service timer is based on kilometres and converted to miles.

Many thanks Cuprabob, I'll get onto that tomorrow, I was just unsure as the car was saying 1 thing and the dealer saying another.

Yeah if it's got a service pack you may as well get it done now. But if you were paying for servicing I'd leave it on Longlife since it would need doing less often
