I purchased a 3 year old 55k miles Audi S3 Dec ’15 from Southampton Audi with FASH and extended manufacturer’s warranty. 1 year on and at 68k miles it was due an oil service and haldex oil change and shortly following collection a vibration was evident at speed which got progressively worse until we broke down
The car has only ever been serviced and maintained by Audi dealers (Southampton and Nottingham)

Nottingham Audi diagnosed that despite their post service visual inspection 3 propshaft bolts had fallen off within 80 miles of inspection and have quoted £2.2k for a replacement. I queried if this was a warranty issue and they advised that Audi Southampton had replaced the clutch slave cylinder under warranty at 40k miles so the warranty was void in this respect. I took this up with Southampton Audi who advised that due to the 2 year time lapse they accept no liability.

Audi UK will assist me no further and have taken 3 weeks to conclude their position and my car remains with Audi Nottingham as it is un-driveable.

I spoke with AutoTechnik who are Audi Specialists in Nottingham and Steve there suggested that the bolts are very hard to see or access so would not likely have featured on any inspection and unlikely to have been loosened by anyone in error.

So given this is not wear and tear item and Audi wont accept any liability I anticipate I will need to pay for a repair but then seek to recover costs via moneyclaim online (small claims) but who should I pursue, Audi UK or Southampton Audi?

Any advise would be appreciated

For 3 propshaft bolts to come undone all at the same time seems very strange. Over £2,000 to replace them is a lot, at around £100 per hour that's 20 hours - what's involved to make it such a time consuming repair?

You have a difficult & potentially costly problem. I think trying to get somebody else to pay might prove costly & I doubt if you'd be successful.

Good luck..

I'm looking at pix of the chassis & see where the difficulty might be. The front of the prop seems to be hidden above the front subframe which might need dropping to allow access.

What a stty situation!

Have you asked the Indy about a second hand propshaft? Must be some breaking? Would imagine that would make a nice big dent in the price.

It's a pretty bonkers thing to happen, never heard of 3 propshaft bolts undoing themselves!
