New to the forums so hello in advance.

Started of whistling for 6k miles and has now evolved into this. Checked engine oil and its seems fine. The sound kicks in even at the slightest touch of the pedal. Before yesterday i managed to get the noise down back to whistling by allowing the car to warm up a little, which worked for a few days but now it no longer makes any difference. What could be causing this? Turbo? Something else? What causes this sound and why? Can it be driven to a garage safely without incurring damage?

Noise gets much worse higher up in the rev band.

Here's a short video recording of the issue.

Sounds like a really shot turbo although could be a hose popped/damaged/split in such a way as to whistle.

Vacuum leak or knackered turbo.
