Golf GTI steering feel?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have just had a slightly disappointing test drive of a BMW 330d, which I had pretty much decided was the perfect package. The car, the style, the performance, even the noise were great, but compared to my 2006 320D it did not feel nearly as engaging or light on its toes. I suspect that this is due in part to the electric steering system, which the dealer tells me is pretty much industry standard now, whatever I go for.
I am now therefore looking at other options, and a Golf GTI seems a good place to start. Can anyone tell me what I can expect from this car, will it also have a similar dead feeling to the steering, or is this something that is done better by some than others?
thanks

The steering on my M135i and previous Mk7 GTD feel extremely similar to me. Both are electric PAS with progressive steering as VW call it (can't remember the BMW terminology).
They do take a little getting used to compared to a more traditional setup, but I now find it's hard to go back to other cars after getting accustomed to these two!
