Hey chaps.

As i suspect you will be well aware, the 2.0TDI BKD Engine can be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to turbo's. I have the overboost-into-limp mode issue on my A3 which is highly likely to be sticking vanes on the VNT Turbo. All the homebrew remedies and Turbo Cleaners will only delay the inevitable, the Turbo is eventually going to go and need replacing

I am seriously considering a hybrid Turbo to replace my current one as they appear (on the face of it) to have beefed up internals;

An example (probably a bit too beefy though)

or stuff from this Xman turbo's guy;

My questions are;
1. Wether the uprated hybrid turbo's are direct bolt-on items that wouldn't trouble a normal mechanic?
2. Do these require a more specialist garage to fit?
3. Any hybrid turbo recommendations? I am not looking for big numbers but a tougher turbo with a decent map for 180ish make me happy smile

Maybe i am overthinking it, but the last thing i want to do is end up picking up some hybrid gadget and end up giving my local mechanic grief. Your thoughts would be appreciated smile

It seems quite heavy duty for my particular application though frown
