My 2008 Mk 5 Golf GT Sport is showing signs of the Dual Mass Flywheel giving up the ghost. Common problem I know but as this is a keeper good replacement alongside the clutch and clutch slave cylinder is required. I know a kit is available but there's a little argument between my Indy and me as to whether a Sachs or LUK product is the one to go for. As PH is the fountain of all knowledge perhaps someone can enlighten me?
Also....sorry to be a pest.....but where is the best place to source these kits? E-bay is coming up as £300 for a Sachs (Oops! Showing my allegiance here!) whilst local motor factors are north of £550. Don't send me to the local VW garage.......they'll be well out of a sensible price range!

Some people believe that the Sachs kit is slightly better - I've just had a LUK kit fitted to my mk6 and it was 800 quid fitted by a VW Specialist

Both good quality brands, I wouldn't have a problem with either. I think Sachs is oem on most vag stuff and is probably what I'd choose if prices were similar.
I'd expect a clutch and dmf kit to be between £400 and £500 for a vag Diesel engine.
I've never bought a clutch from eBay but there seem to be some good sellers on there, maybe try car parts 4 less too.

Many thanks for your replies guys. As I thought Sachs is the way to go. Wide variation on price though depending on where you go. Indies are doing clutch and flywheels for between £700 - £850 which is where I'm going. VW dealers are £1500+ so I shall definitely NOT be going there!

Give these guys a try, can't be much difference in value from the one shown surely?

As it happens that's exactly where I've gone! Ordered this morning, due for delivery tomorrow (Tuesday). Looks a bargain as TPS wanted £750 - but only a LUK - and local motor factors wanted £570.
If it's as described then that's super! I'll let you know when it arrives.

Bit late to help now, but I got a new Luk clutch kit and DMF from GSF with 53% off (they're always having promos) so it worked out at about £310. Yes, it was for an A4 2.0 TDi but as it's all VAG, prices are likely similar for similar kit.

Nearly all of the cars from the factory came with LUK.

There's not much difference to be honest.

I'd go for the cheapest you can find on Ebay.

Valeo is quite cheap and works well.

Another option is here.

Select the concentric slave and you'll need it and it's £330 + vat
