Just looking for pointers, my neighbors uncle had his polo from brand new and he has only done about 19,000-20,000 miles in all those years, I know it's not rare or desirable but there must be somewhere this car can be advertised where someone will appreciate it ? Any ideas?

The key question has to be what age/shape of Polo?

Really??

Its just a low mileage old car, this future classic rubbish winds me up. If he wants to sell it NOW its just an old car, you cannot cash in on what the car might be worth in the future!!

Y prefix, 2001? Not Y suffix, 1982/3...?

Try VW UK - they might be interested, since I think there's a new Polo due and they might appreciate being able to demo the vast improvements in the intervening years!

Some folk will be tempted in a boggo basic old car, but it's never going to be worth mega bucks - depends a lot on condition too, obviously. If it's genuinely timewarp with no body damage I'd expect it to make £2k or so.

Car and Classic web site would be your best bet

I had a MK3 phase two Polo and it was a great first car.

With 50/75/100 BHP from a 1.0 or 1.4 it'll be a decent first or additional car for somebody. I wouldn't think it'll be worth more than £1,500 or £2,000 though, especially if it's the E trim with no central locking or electric windows.

Thanks guys, yes it's 2001, boggo E version, not sure what engine, looking at Mk1 polo prices I'm guessing this has a long way to go, but a very nice car all the same, shame it's not Italian !

Just an update for those interested the car was sold and collected within hours of going up for sale, so it would seem the demand is there for a low mileage nothing to special motor after all !

Masochosts must have a few quid, I had one, communist feel to them, but good little cars, we had the bread van, was like a box on wheels, for its size it could carry a hell of a lot !
