Whilst the new RS5 is receiving quite disappointing reviews, I just wondered how everyone thinks the next gen RS4 Avant will shape up?

As the owner of a B8 RS4 (and previously a B7), I've been waiting for the B9 to come along, but apparently the launch delay is down to problems shedding weight. Hopefully it will handle a little better than the RS5, but I doubt it will be much different and losing the N/A V8 will reduce the sparkle I reckon. I decided to order an RS6PE instead, due in the autumn and probably the last (and my last) V8 Audi.

Looking at the spy shots, I was hoping for a more pronounced side blisters like the B8 version, however I think it will be disappointing. If you compare the B8 RS4 against the RS5, the RS4 did to me always look much more aggressive..

It seems Audi are moving away from that look, which many are attracted to..

Yes, the arches on the spy shots do look strange, not too far off colour coded Allroad arches - perhaps just a dekoy... Hopefuly just a dekoy!

It really is like a lottery with RS Audis. The latest RS3 saloon and hatch handle really well, much less understeer and a rear end that I'd go as far as calling playful.

So imagine my joy when I saw the new RS5 when they pulled back the covers in Geneva, with a lighter engine. Could it be?

But no, the RS5 is back to bad RS. Good RS, bad RS, you really can never tell. It's like there are two different teams at Audi Sport.

Have you driven the RS3 saloon yet? I really like the look of them, the S3 saloon is a great looking car to me, but I think the RS3 looks a bit, well, boring on the configurator. I will reserve judgement until Ive seen one in the metal.

I have, yes. It's a fantastic thing to drive. Very playful, most unlike the old RS3 and TTRS. And so, so fast. I measured 0-62 using a somewhat imprecise iPhone app at 3.8 seconds.

I will say, the configurator pics do the car no favours at all, it looks far more aggressive and well proprtioned in real life. Needs the gloss black pack to make it look better though.
