I've heard of the problems some owners are having with EGR valves after the emissions scandal "fix". I have a 17 plate Touareg and according to VW it is not affected. However, 4 months and 3000 miles after picking up the shiny new touareg it went into limp mode and the dealer says the EGR valve has failed. Currently awaiting parts and have put a call into VW customer services. I want to know if I am just unlucky or is what they replace it with likely to fail again.

Anybody else had any problems like this with VWs that were built post emissions problem? Am I worrying over nothing and just got unlucky with a dodgy part?

What mileage and journey type does the car do as this can influence problems like this.

A few short journeys but mixed with decent motorway journeys of over an hour.

The fact that VW has had to offer a 24 month warranty on EGR, Injectors etc... for cars which have had the "emissions update" done tells me there are issues.

2 EGR's in 6 months for my Audi 2.0 TDI after the 'fix'

Audi will replace for free.

I did the last one myself, but i'm not doing it again as its a PITA and the part is about £400.

I took the last one apart and there is a pin that slides in a channel that gets stuck as it gets coated in exhaust gas, they could have designed it so this bit is sealed from gas, but they didn't.....stupid design.

The emissions fix crates more particles (people are reporting up to 4 times the previous amounts) thereby making the above issue worse. DPF will probably fail in short order.

Kicking myself for having the fix.

Four weeks on and still waiting for my car to be fixed frown, apparently with VW Germany to find resolution according to dealer.

Hi! I'm a new guy in this forum but anyway.. Is it possible that too much engine oil could cause problems with the EGR system? The dipstick has now atm got oil a little over the MAX level.
The Emission Workshop light on the dashboard went on. Then I cleaned the EGR. After that, I went driving again and after approx. 4 km the Emission Workshop light went off in the same way. Is there too much engine oil?
Thanks for helping! smile
