Hi,

Am I right that the new Sline A4 has no full leather option.

Alcantara looks basically like it's got fabric middle section???

N3M: S line seats with Fine Nappa Leather £800 inc VAT

It's on page 30 of the current price list pdf download (from the audi.co.uk website).

This is a specific option for the "Front sports seats with 'S' embossed logo" in the S line and Black Edition. Standard spec is:

N7K: S line seats with leather/Alcantara £0 inc VAT

So the Alcantara is fabric middles? It's weird working this out.

You may or may not be aware, but Alcantara is a suede effect fabric. From memory the Alcantara is the middle section of the seat base and backrest, with the sides of the seats in leather.

Alcantara is generally sold as being a 'premium' fabric. It's less slippy and arguably more comfortable in hot and cold weather than leather, but the latter can be harder wearing and easier to keep clean. Alcantara isn't necessarily very compatible with sticky-fingered children...

At launch the s line had half leather/fabric as standard then leather/Alc and full leather as an option.

I think they have ditched the half leather and cloth now by the looks of it so now standard is leather/alc with full leather as an option.

If I was to choose I'd have leather/alc it's cooler than full leather in summer, warmer in winter and less easy to stain than the cloth centres

There's a pretty clear picture of the S line seats on the on-line configurator (select S line trim, then Alcantara on the Interior page and click on the camera icon in the bottom right of one of the interior trim pictures to get the full screen version). It looks like the side bolsters (seat base and backrest) are leather and the main part of the seat / backrest is Alcantara.

For me personally I'd have the Alcantara centres over full leather but for resale the majority still default to 'full leather is best'. It's generally the easiest to keep clean, too.

I've always liked full Leather and was looking for it when I got the S4 but, due to the best car I found having the Alcantara/Leather seats (the other contender having bright red leather yikes), I've got that setup and now, after experiencing them I prefer them; more comfortable, less slippery and not so hot/cold if car left outside in extreme weather.
