MK2 TTRS Prices
Discussion
What's with the TTRS pricing? I know RS cars are renowned for holding their money, but even as the new one has been released, prices seem to be unaffected.
On paper the MK2 TTRS and MK3 are very similar, with the exception of the MK2 being available in manual. Do we think this could hold the prices up for them and in future increase? I don't feel like many widely produced RS cars ever appreciate, they just slowly depreciate (Let me know if i'm wrong)
Input appreciated. Really fancy a MK2 TTRS but don't fancy stumping £25k on a car that will plummet in the near future...

Mk3 TTRS is getting on for twice the price isn't it? Probably more once optioned up.
It probably helps that it was (and is) such a limited production car.
The major difference imo is the interior, the Mk2 is functional to put it kindly, whereas the Mk3 actually looks modern. If you can look past that though and appreciate it for the engine (and what an engine), there's a lot of value in it.

The biggest issue for the MK2 TTRS is the MK3 TTS - I was in a similar position roughly this time last year and good TT-RS's were around but at the 25k/26k mark with dealers not willing to move.
Lightly used MK3 TTS's were in abundance in the dealer chain, especially yellow ones, and could be had for roughly the same money with much higher spec and roughly the same performance.
I ended up going with a factory order S3 in the end and not regretted it at all - I may well do at trade in time but so far it's been a great balance. The engine noise isn't the same but it's not far off.

Sorry but have to disagree with your comment on the interior, yes the new one has the fancy dash but the mk2 still looks good IMHO, obviously biased as we have one but they are great value for the money. It probably helps that it was (and is) such a limited production car.

Don't get me wrong, it's not bad or deficient n any way, I just think it suffers slightly due to the fact that the Mk2 was introduced in 2007. it is a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things, and easily forgotten when you're behind the wheel and savouring the engine. I was probably too harsh in saying it was "functional, to put it kindly" to be honest.Cheers for all the replies.
It's more a "I'm only young, stop being so sensible with money and treat yourself a little" moment, for the 21-23k price range, they stand out to me the most. Tempted to hold on till early next spring/summer and see if any sub 50k examples have crept below the 20k mark, then it'll be a no brainer for me.
