I'm picking up a new car on saturday, a Seat Leon X-Perience. One of its first jobs will be a drive to Hossegor for a weeks surfing, so I want to get some roof bars for the boards. I will also use them for t-track bike racks and a roof box. I have previously used the OE bars, but the Seat ones look particularly high, so I'm thinking about getting some Thule Wing Bags, and required foot pack.

Anyone got any other recommendations.

I'm buying the Thule Wing Bar Edge for my Golf R Estate. As you mentioned, the OEM bars looks pretty high, and the non-Edge Thule bars look to stick out too much. I like the way the Edge bars more or less fit between the roof rails, and I'm told they are near silent up to three figures.

I was going to stick with the non-edge variant. I was working on the basis this gave a bit more space if i ever wanted to fit the top box and some bikes on the roof.

You'll definitely get more useable space with the non-Edge bars. I was hoping to get some I could leave on, and have found the Wingbars I have at the moment too noisy. They whistle at anything over 50mph.

Picked up the car last weekend, and the Thule Wing Bars were delivered today. Test fitted with no problem. A little fiddly to set up, but should be quicker with practice.

Going to test how much difference the rubber strips make. I don't really want to cut them, as the bars will be used with multiple different bits fitted. Either a top box, bike carriers, or just surf boards strapped down.

I have the Thule bars on mine with the wing edge rails. Very impressed - you'd never know they were on there.
