Morning all,

I'm looking to purchase an Audi TT (Petrol, Manual) with a budget of around 9k.

At the moment my options appear to be either of the following;

59 Plate (pre facelift) 2.0 TFSI S-Line Special Edition, 50k on the clock.

12 Plate 1.8 TFSI Sport, similar mileage.

Both are priced similarly, and both have full service history (although the cambelt hasn't been done on the S-Line, so will need to get this done asap after purchase).

The S-Line appears to come with BOSE, 20mm lowered suspension, leather seats, some fancy S-Line badges and trim.

Question is out of the two, would I be better going for the 2.5 year old newer car but without these 'fancy' extras, or going for the S-Line?
I've heard the MPG can increase slightly on the newer models, especially in the 1.8?

Also, I'd be hoping for 30mpg+ with a mixture of driving, does this sound feasible?

Thanks in advance.

30mpg+ is definitely possible in the 2.0 version - I used to average ~32mpg on mine. I'd imagine that that the 1.8 is even more economical.

The Bose is quite decent IMO (though some have slagged it off) but the S-Line stuff is neither here nor there. I personally wasn't bothered with leather seats as I really liked the Alcantara/leather mix.

The 2.0 is quite a bit quicker than the 1.8.

Of the two I would choose the 2.0 TFSI. The 1.8 engine is dangerously close to the dodgy chain model year, and slower as already pointed out. It's not a light car!

But if it were my bunch o' tenners, I'd be aiming for the TT-S. Much better engine than either of those two.

I wouldn't consider any TT without AWD, even if it is Haldex.
