audi a4 b8 2.0 tdi -cam pos sensor - wont start- butreplaced
Discussion
my car is sitting on the drive the RAC can't get it to go - car battery and key fobs are fine.
The last couple of weeks it has started randomly not start then would start 5/10 mins later.. would start in the morning drive to work and back fine. then play up at random times.
Called out RAC glow plug bank 1 and ..
cam position sensor on diags (had this same error code for 40,000 miles even though part changed 37,000 miles ago)
Replaced glow plug one and that fault has gone...Car has driven fine for 3 weeks without touching the camshaft sensor.
Today car started in the morning 10am fine then wouldn't start in the afternoon at 3pm
RAC called out at 3pm, cam position sensor error p001600, crankshaft position - correlation - bank 1 sensor A
BUT I have had this error for 40/50,000 miles (red herring) and the car even with this fault code has driven fine for 3/4 years/37,000 miles
I thought I would get rid of the silly error code 3/4 years ago by having the part changed at Audi whilst having the cam belt & water pump done, and it didn't clear the fault down so I have ignored it and car has been fine for years.
So could it be that now I do finally have a cam position sensor fault with the a 2nd sensor which is only 3/4 years old and only covered 37,000 since it was changed (the previous sensor was good for 155,000 and probably nothing wrong with it)
?????????
The car tries to turn over and "shakes" .. no clicking noises, plenty of fuel in the car no errors on dash board.
RAC sprayed the inlet manifold to try and get it to start but it still wouldn't.
