Hello everyone!

Just checking to see if anybody has experience with fast tyre wear on this car. Had this from new for just under 10k and driven very moderately - school run - shopping and probably about 4k on motorways and now the Continental Sportcontacts are almost worn out particularly the front.

Any thoughts? Hadn't expected an £800 bill so soon!

We have 2 at work, one is the bi turbo. Tyres on both last around 20k but we rotate them at about 10k as the front gets more wear.

Interesting - mine is the 3.0 TDI (272) so not short on power but it is driven as I mentioned, very moderately so absolutely no reason from that perspective for the early wear.

Noticed I get front tyre scrub/skip when low speed maneuvering. You guys get the same? Didn’t experience it on my last a6 previous gen.

Taking it in on Monday. Audi suggested it could be over inflation - mine were low when I checked - and also offered that the Continental Sportcontact were very soft and wore much faster than other tyres fitted while giving a much quieter ride.

Tyre scrub is normally down to the awd trying to push the front wheels as you turn.

Normally once the tyres have warmed up it should go away.

Plus crap/worn tyres won’t help.

Does yours do it? My tyres aren’t worn but can’t imagine it would help with their life lol.

The weird thing is that my prev gen a6 avant awd 3.0 didn’t do it. You’d think the front and centre diffs would stop it happening. Other awd don’t do it.

They are awful tyres for durability and only average in other areas.

Have to agree - if this wear is due to tyre compound then it’s scandslous and I have never known a tyre that has been so awkward on cambers and white lines. Feels very unsafe in some situations
