Audi A7 broken camera lens

My b-i-l has managed to crack the lens cover on his front camera, the one that sits beside the four rings Audi emblem.

Early searches seem to suggest this needs a full removal and fitting new camera. Anyone got any experience/ knowledge of this?

Seems a stupid place to put something that will be susceptible to stones?

Tell me about it, those fools will be putting lamps, sensors, radars, radiators, and large pieces of glass on the front of cars next

I don't have direct experience of that repair but I'm going to guess that it's mounted from the rear so will at least require the bumper partially removing to gain access.
