audi a7 tdi biturbo
Discussion
Powertrain in the SQ5 is identical (plenty of writeups on that around).
Good engine; all the real-world performance you'll ever need and if you can resist hoofing it 40MPG too. They've proved very good in durability terms so far but like any diesel EGR and DPF will not like prolonged short-trip use.

Ive got one and utterly love it.
The a7 I find to be a brilliant car, its a proper GT car, handles well enough, motorway muncher however the bitdi is something a bit special.
I came from a 2012 bmw 335i and it feels a good bit faster than that which on paper it is.
The most speical part about it is the absolute power you feel from 30 onwards. Its great!
I think if I got the 272 version I wouldnt be happy. the BiTdi is brilliant. Had a few hot hatches try tickle me and the look on their face when im gone is quite funny.
The sound is never going to be like a petrol but its bloody nice though, they have active speakers inside the exhaust (not the interior) and it does sound like a v8 rumble. It works very well!
Youtube some videos for the sound. You can even buy a soundbooster which allows you to alter the sound.
When I read up on them I didnt hear of any reliability issues but to be on the safe side I extended the audi warranty on the car which was a reasonable 560 for the year.

I don't have an A7 but its sibling the A6 with that engine, its a torque monster!
its sound as said will never be as good as a petrol but with the sound generator doesn't sound half bad, with it switched off though its very quite and smooth.
Hooning will see mid 20's MPG but on a cruise 40 is easily achievable with 50 on a slower cruise. It is a bit of a jackal and hide.
Reliably touch wood mines been fine, 50K miles and counting, one of the owners on Sport audis now at 125K miles and no issues.
Mine doesn't consume oil, and so far apart from the ring gauge on the steering column not had any warranty issues.

I viewed a video on youtube with the sound its insane for a diesel car thats just what i need, but i just wanted to make sure it drives like a diesel car a real torque monster thats what i prefer and as you guys said it is one, i will be looking for a used one because i really like the looks of the first one, is there anything you need to check on these cars if u buy a used one?

Haha yea, ive had a few people ask me what engine I have as it sounds like a V8
Lifting off at 4500rpm has some interesting electronic overrun lolCheck out the Kuftec sound booster on u-tube if you want more.
Check wise apart from the usual, making sure everything fitted works, no damage, no suspension play, I'd check tire wear as mine needs a good alignment once a year, the ZF 8 speed box should be very smooth and no clunk between changes (You can get a slight shudder when coming to a stop but that's normal)
I'm struggling to think of anything specic really to check, The MMI system can be slow to boot sometimes as mines now at 50K things like wipers blades are needed replaced and the boot gas struts are starting to struggle. Still no squeaks or rattles inside.
Dirty diesel wise there should be no smoke, mine hasn't used a drop of oil in 50K either,
Not sure if it was an option on the A7 but if you can find one with the sports diff it does make it a genuine fun car to drive swiftly.
Best of luck with your hunt :-)

I just did a test drive with an A6 3.0 tdi 245hp (friend of me) and i already had that torquey feeling like i expected, i cant imagine what the biturbo is like must be insane torquey driving
that interior is just stunning, alot of options and insane amount of space. That audi interiors are one of the best made! The drive was a little bit dull but i think that A7 will do better then this avant.
I just cant wait till i get my hands on one.

had a Black Edition BiTdi for 18 months and loved it.
Big boot, lots of toys (radar cruise, HUD and sunroof were nice to have, luxurious interior, effortlessly fast and fairly frugal. I'd be looking at 15 plates onwards now to get the more updated light clusters.
I had the Kufatec sound generator, which made the car sound great on setting 5, real V8 rumble but not too in your face.
I still have it incidentally, so I guess is for sale if anyone's interested - I'll stick it up in the FS section..
