Would appreciate fellow owners views on variable service timing. I bought my Audi A3 Sportback 1.4 tfsi (150bhp) from new in July 2016. The car was set up by the supplying dealer on a variable service plan.
The car has now covered 8.8k miles but has not yet notified me of a due service.
Is this unusual and what sort of timescales are we normally looking at? Obviously, journey types etc will have an impact but I really dont fancy the idea of waiting much longer to change the oil.
Any advice or owner experience would be great. Thanks.Pete

It will call for it's first service likely either July 2018 or 18k miles, whichever comes soonest. I'd just wait as modern engines are designed for long intervals and you're covered by warranty if anything went wrong.

Thanks for advice. It must be my old fashioned thinking! 2 years before an oil change seems so long to me.

Ive seen various vag cars go near 20k between services but its not something id do, even though modern oils are probably capable of it.
I try to aim for 10k or 12 months on normal stuff but would go lower to 6k or 6 months on something that had known issues.

Oil after 10k/12 months and a service after 20k/24 months.

Unless you're driving gently and racking up motorway miles Audi's advice has been this for years.
