Touareg adblue warning won't reset
Discussion
2015 Touareg R Line, 27k miles. The Adblue range warning came up on the dash display last week. No warning light. I bought a Kruse refill bottle, and a 10l can from Halfords. Followed the manual to reset the warning (ignition on for at least 30 seconds before starting), but the message flashes up each time I start the car.
I bought another 10l can, managed to get half of it into the tank before the Kruse bottle shut off, so tank is definitely full. Tried the reset again, with no luck.
The available range is still counting down, now on 1200 miles.
I took it into the local VW dealer, who hooked it up to the computer. No fault codes showing.
Seems a bit strange that vagcom or whatever says it's all good, but the car says the tank is nearly empty. Technician proposes draing and removing the tank for a closer look. Glad it's still under warranty.

Glad you got it sorted, was it the same tech who told you it needed a ECU update as who told you not to believe everything you read on the internet??
On another note, what's the Touareg like to live with?? I'm looking at getting one the same as you have in the early part of next year, looking at a 2015 model maybe 2016 if I find one in budget.

Not sure who actually did the work today, so it might have been a different technician. They only had the car in the workshop for a couple of hours, so I don't think they actually took the car apart.
It's the first VW and the first 4wd I've owned. It's fast enough, more refined than I expected. Everything seems to do what it's supposed to, so I'm happy with it.
Two things that could be better:
The fuel economy is nowhere near what VW state as the official consumption (42mpg). It's actually pretty dismal on short runs, as it takes about 10 minutes to warm up properly. On the run to work (5 miles on hilly, quiet, A roads) I get 30mpg. Gets better on a longer run. Currently averaging a shade under 35mpg on the computer, closer to 33mpg brim to brim. I got 38mpg on a 80 mile drive last week. I was kind of expecting this though. It's acceptable for such a heavy car with a decent turn of speed.
The auto box is a bit harsh on changes for what I think is basically an old school torque converter unit. Nowhere near as smooth as the box in my old 5 series, or the Powershift box in my previous Galaxy. I'm guessing that's down to the lockup and freewheel fitted to the box, plus the extra gubbins of the 4wd system. It's not actually bad, just not as smooth as it could be. Seems to be a lot smoother when pressing on than when driving for economy.
