New B9 RS4 - to DRC or not to DRC ?
Discussion
That is the question ..............
Since the B9 was first announced i've eagerly awaited the first reviews ( I was very close to buying the B7 + B8 models in the past).
I like the look and sound of it from the first YouTube reviews.
But what really surprised me was when I sat back, composed myself and pressed the red 'Start' button on the Audi configurator - the sheer speed with which it accelerates, the 'needle' hurtles upwards on the virtual cockpit, right up and beyond the red line of my bank account. It can go from 61k to 81k in very few clicks from my right finger, truly impressive.
But when should I have stopped pressing ?
Nardo Grey solid paint - now I would probably choose this anyway with the Black Styling pack (the paint is the only colour that doesn't incur extra cost but the styling pack is £ 550).
Sunroof £ 1250, matrix lights ( I quite like these but £ 850 !), TPM £ 250, Electric memory seats £ 325,Privacy glass £ 450, HUD £ 900, 20" wheels £ 2000 ( bit steep), Comfort & Sound pack £ 1295, Carbon inlays £ 950 (crikey), Carbon Pack (ok includes matrix lights,20" wheels etc but £ 5000 !!), RS Sports exhaust £ 1200 ( but this is supposed to be the top A4/RS model !!),Ceramic Brakes £ 6000 (choke !) and the infamous Sports suspension with DRC @ £ 2000.
The last item concerns me - for drivability & desirability do you really have to tick this box ? (on the previous models this was a contentious issue as most cars were specced but the sheer number of problems encountered certainly caught my attention, so have Audi rectified the system to guarantee no faults ? - we'll probably have to wait until owners have had time to evaluate next year ).
I think I would probably do without the carbon pack, HUD, ceramics & carbon inlays which would save me a few pounds but sport suspension versus DRC, I don't know.
I'd be interested to hear what other prospective buyers thought.

I've got a lightly specced S4 Avant on order but I had a play with the RS4 configurator out of interest. I'd go Nardo Grey with black pack too, standard wheels (I like the painting them black idea), sports exhaust, Matrix lights (didn't spec these in the end on my S4 as it's a lease and I was trying to be thrifty) , extended interior LED's and that's about it.. Save some money to spend on Super Unleaded!
