The (solitary) reversing bulb in our Leon is terrible - doesn't light much at all.

It's a 382 P21W bayonet bulb - I can't really find anything other than standard bulbs for it, something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-halogen-auxiliar...

This description appears to be rubbish as it's not halogen, but I'm not sure the dual filament will actually make it brighter.
Any other way of getting more light when I reverse?

thanks

There's always the old trick of switching on the rear fogs and the hazards.

Put an led equivalent in there.

Not rocket science.

Some of the rocket science I have read ie. reviews of replacement LED reversing bulbs have said they are actually dimmer than a standard bulb.

For example this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reverse-Number-License-Si...

that says it's suitable for my car

Bright enough led's for tail light application but light projection and strength not enough for reverse light.

Fit easily but are at least 75% the brightness of a regular bulb. I wouldn't trust them as primary bulbs.

So do you have personal experience with LED bulbs or care to show me your rocket science?

As I said, it isn’t rocket science.

There are specialist shops on line.

Try google.
