I'm in the market currently and the 300 4Drive is on my list of potentials - I'm curious as to what sort of MPG is realistic on a motorway cruise at 70-75mph - Any comments from previous or current owners would be very much appreciated.

I can't comment on the specific model but from an S3 8V I get over 30MPG even with traffic and a smidgen of arsing around.

If I'm a good boy I get 37 (my drive to/from work is 11 miles 60/40 motorway/town).

Thanks Dr G, much appreciated - Despite the identical powertrain I'd imagine the Leon ST might be a little heavier though? They're pretty rare but hopefully somebody who has one will be along soon.....

Is your S3 7-speed S-Tronic? Wonder how much of a difference that seventh gear makes on the motorway...

Not the same, but I got a 290 BE. On the motorway I'll see 36-40mpg.

I can't answer the OP's question...yet, but am picking up a Leon ST Cupra 300 Carbon edition (4Drive) next weekend smile

It was an impulse purchase. Had been looking for a 'fast estate' and originally considering Audi S6 Avant - but the money I wanted to pay only gets you into something that's out of, or nearing end of warranty.

Golf R estate is the obvious 'affordable' choice, but just too dull and tuetonic. I've always had a soft spot for Seats and it just to happened that the limited edition was in stock at a local dealer (only 3 miles from home). Popped in for a look, test drove, had a deposit down about 2 hours later wink

Hi OP, I've had an ST300 Cupra since mid-November. Short runs/heavy traffic and the in-car counter reckons on 20-ish MPG. Motorway run at steady 80-ish and I got 34 reported back. Coming from a 320d BMW it's been a bit of a shock (that did mid 40s all day, and knocked on the door of 50 on long motorway runs).
That said the performance is hilariously good fun, and I'm more than happy to stick another few £s into the tank for the way it goes.

Just done my 25000th mile in mine, got it back in Sept 17.

The average over 25000 is 31.3 mpg. Mainly motorways but some heavy traffic.

It ain’t great on fuel but given the performance that shouldn’t be a surprise.

Very capable in the snow though!

I've had one since December, so the 7 speed gearbox.

Overall MPG is 31.6. Best tank is 38 and worst is 26.

As above, motorway runs I saw 32 - 35 at about 75mph.

Last summer I managed to touch 40mpg with the car fully-loaded with family and camping gear and a roofbox on between Leicester and Devon. That was with a DTUK box, cruise control on and doing about 65mph in light traffic. 90% motorway with a few 50mph stretches.

Very capable cars.

Done 7000 miles in mine, 6 speed.

Motorway sees mid 30's, same kind of driving saw me getting low 40's from my M135i so pretty disappointing

Around town it's low to mid 20's

The lux spec on a new one lists electric drivers seat, was that an option on these previously?

I saw the 290s while browsing a while ago - have been looking at Golf R estates, but the Autogefuhl review of these happened to come up on my YT, spent all week getting more and more taken with it but the Carbon ed. in that review doesn't have electric drivers. I can't see anything definite on what the previous spec levels were, no clear picture of the side of the seats on any of them currently on sale.

It's probably no issue living in Somerset and being the estate model, Golf R getting nicked might be in the back of my mind - these seem more understated, the Golf interior is better, but impressed how much kit the Seat has. I really need the electric adjustment as I raise it right up to get on my wheelchair more easily. Would like the pan-roof as well, but I've only seen it on German plated Cupras, or its hens teeth over here.
