Hi all,

I've just agreed to buy a 2015 VW Golf Mk7 2.0 GT TDI Estate with 70k on the clock from the VW dealership. It has full VW history and is provided with their "Das Welt" checks, 12 months warranty and breakdown cover.

The car is perfect for our family as it offers economy, (some) performance and is spacious. I'm a big fan of toys on cars, and this one has adaptive cruise control.

I've put a deposit down with the dealer (however it is refundable) and agreed a price of £10,500.

I want to buy a car from the VW dealership (after a bad experience with independent small dealers). I don't know if i'm paying a little too much as there are various used hatchbacks on the VW site with less than 50k miles. The only thing bugging me is that the miles are a little high.

Am I paying too much for this car?

Are you trading in a car against it?

I think that all mark 7 Golfs have that if they're SE or GT.

All MK7 GTD's have the Adaptive Cruise, heated seats, DAB radio with tochscreenand a few other bit n bobs.

I got a full black leather upgrade on mine with red GTD logo on head rest. Seen others with the panoramic sunroofs and optional 19 inch wheels rather than the 18 standards.

As for your price I don't think you are being overcharged. I bought mine last Autumn - 30 k on clock - 2 yrs Das Welt Comprehensive Warranty 2 yrs Roadside Assist 2 years free service with MOT cover for £16k. (64plate)

They're great cars - but I will be changing this year or next only because of performance. They're good enough but I do love the R and with hindsight I should have just paid the 6k extra and got the R.

Thanks for your reply,

The one i'm looking at is a lower model than the GTD, its the GT TDI. (I wish i had the funds for a GTD).

Above average mileage would put me off on this one myself, bits will go wrong when you get to 2 years in on it, the cam will need changing as well at 100k?

Whats the owner history?

I do love ACC on my passat, shame i've not got DSG as it must be absolutely gorgeous on motorway journeys.

Hi,

It is one owner, full VW dealer service history.

There is a Golf hatchback at the same dealership, it has 24k miles, is 4 months older and is a 1.6tdi DSG. It is only £500 more for a car with less than half the miles.

However, its quite slow and doesn't have the nice GT interior, also it is a hatchback so there is a space sacrifice.

If its full VWSH I wouldn't worry about the mileage. More than likely motorway miles. You should have a years Comprehensive warranty if it is a VW dealership.

If you are happy with the car and it meets your needs go for it. There's always a slight risk buying any used car - if it ticks your boxes go for it.

Price doesn't sound bad. The Estate always tends to be worth a little less than the Hatchback, worth keeping that in mind. Is it the DSG? Also as a couple of others have mentioned Adaptive Cruise is standard across the range, except for the entry level S and Bluemotion models.

Thanks all

The estate is a manual - I prefer auto's but you can't have everything i guess.
