Recently on my golf gti I had done the cam chain and tensioner replacement and also as the diagnostic mentioned about the n205 being faulty. On replacing that there is no longer any fault codes. However the n205 is now causing a knocking sound but when u disconnect the valve the car is really quite apart from the standard injector tick. N205 is brand new. Can anyone guide me please.

Odd that you get no bad running symptoms with the old valve yet you get codes. Did you get a light on dash? Is the new part genuine VW?

Originally what happened was the connector on the old one snapped off as it was previously bent before and this time gave way. I managed to bodge it up but it threw a fault code and eml was on. Now I’ve returned the new aftermarket one which didn’t throw no code nothing but jus the knock and bodged up my old one did an ohms reading and was within tolerance I believe. Put it all back together ran it up to temperature took it t for good drive normal and racing and seemed to be fine out the diagnostics on it no codes before and after test drive. What you reckon I should do? If it isn’t throwing no codes the engine sounds sweet should I live with it ? Mind you the new solenoid got extremely hot.
Thanks

I would see how it goes mate. I’ve had a read up on some GTI forums and people with failed cam timing adjuster valves say when they go the cars knock like mad and if yours seems to now be ok I would just run it as is and do a diagnostic check in a day or so to see if it’s chucking up any timing or valve related codes but I think it will be fine.
