Hi Guys, just looking for any opinions on this one......
Purchased a new A6 Avant ultra on a 2 year lease in December 2016 and after 12 months and 10,000 miles a service light came up saying "oil change due". I called the dealer to ask if this was correct as i was sure there was no service due until 19,000 miles or 2 years.
The lady i spoke to at Liverpool audi said that depending on my driving style the car may require this oil change at 10,000 miles. So i said fair enough and asked her for a quote to do the oil change..................£330.00. This seems ridiculous to me, has anyone else been in the same situation or had a similar quote for an oil change?

Do i have to get the oil change done at the main dealer or can i get it done at a specialist (car on lease)?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried any other dealers for a different quote?

If it's on lease I'm pretty sure it will have to be main dealer.

Others may be cheaper.

Around £300 sounds about right for a first service at a dealer. Sounds like the car is on fixed not variable service intervals though?

That's a "because we can" price. It's an hour's labour, 5 litres of oil, and 15 quid for a filter/plug. The vehicle inspection part of an interim oil service is just the basics (brakes/tyres).

There are good independents around and a number of those will also log the work with Audi centrally (probably important as it's a lease).

Cheers guys, found a decent independent who will do the whole service ( not just the oil change) and register the work with the main dealer for £220.00....... Happy Days!!!

Depends on the engine, the 3.0 Diesel's take 8.4L, I'm guessing some of the larger capacity petrol's as well.

Quite right; I'd assumed it was a 2 litre diesel.

On my last two VW engined diesel cars, Ihave always had the service set to lomglife intervals, which only activated the info system at 18.5K mileage intervals. For some reason on the last car I had following the last two services the oil service message was activated at 10K. Now, I do a fairly high mileage/year and such have 2 oil/filter changes within the year, so am happy that the oil leads a relatively easy life in the engine, and this is a reasonable turnaround time on the black stuff .On my latest car, the same feature has happened re. the serice interval setting, the oil change pops up at 10K, and then the inspection service alert pops up at around 18.5K. Phoned the dealer and they have told me it's been reset incorrectly post service and I could have it reset if I called in. I just ignore the oil change alert at the moment and make sure I know the time for the general service, where a small or big service is performed, inc. oil and filter. Seem to remember that somewhere on here its mentioned that the 3lt tdi has two sumps, upper and lower !!! My oil change with filter has always been around £85-£100, SEAT dealers, on both 1.6tdi and 2lt tdi respectively, and should have said that, regardless of driving style, in general everyday use, the only thing that varied on the service details via the car driving data, was the miles remaining to next service, usually around the 18.5Kmark, no oil change mileage was ever shown, so me thinks yours too has been reset incorrectly, and yes that oil change sounds pricey...have you tried Halfords Autocentres, they look after my sons Type R, and do a good job.
