Strange Issue with Blutooth phone - Skoda Superb

I recently bought a 2011 Skoda Superb to replace my ancient and ruined Jag.

I've managed to connect my phone to the car to be able to play music through the car speakers, and I can make calls out. However, while the person on the other end can hear me, I can't hear them.

Looking at the bluetooth bit on my phone, it's beacause Phone Audio is not turned on, but when I try to do this, it turns off gain stratight away. Try as I might, I cannot turn on Phone Audio to play through the speakers.

I've done a factory reset on the telephone, and deleted all the phones of the previous owner. Disconnected, unpaired, reconnected, etc. Still doesn't work.

I've done a search but everyone seems to have the opposite problem - they can connect phone but not media.

Any ideas?
