Hi
Last week my 2008, 125k miles sportback started juddering at 60 mph, lost acceleration and was even more juddery when idle.

My local mechanic diagnosed an injector problem but after replacing this didn't fix it.

I took it to audi under the emissions update warranty and they noticed that the ECG needed replacing which they duly did under warranty. This did not fix the problem.

They have since diagnosed that the cylinder no.2 has issues but won't know what until stripped it down at a cost of £500. They suspect a valve will need replacing at a further cost of £1500 but again they won't know until...

Don't know what to do. Car is only worth c£4k.
Does this diagnosis sound right? What else could it be? Should I take it back to local man? I am guessing he will be cheaper.

Thanks for any help, I'm useless with cars..

Take it to a specialist (cheaper labour rates), I would say it’s a £800 job at worst, a compression test will tell you what you need to know.

Thanks Carl. Do you mean an Audi specialist?

Could the cylinder problems be as a result of the software update?
