They sound terrible IMO. I once stuck one on a MK5 Golf GTI, drove it round the block, then took it off.

Its the forge 007 I am talking about it's not really a dump valve but just a recuclating valve so I thought no sound??

Ah, maybe you’re right. It was the swooshy thing I had, sounded terrible. The quality of their products is certainly top notch.

Yeah I think thats the dump valve one don't want that's will cause my car to go into limp mode really not good for 1.8t more for jap stuff a bit to fast and furious for me but I've heard good things and bad things about them

Fitted one to my passat 1.8t years ago, no noticeable increase in performance but I had it remapped so saw no harm in fitting a stronger unit. Originals are a known weak point.
it's a recirculation type valve so no noise.

Ran one on a TT for about 6 years in stage 1 tune. No dramas.

Forge 007p is a recirc type valve not a vent to atmosphere. They are well regarded.

Nice smile

Yes any recirc one is fine. To atmosphere ones cause the car to run badly as it's losing metered air.

The thinking at the time was that the OEM plastic ones couldn't take the heat and extra boost after a remap and an upgrade was a wise investment, but by the time I moved on plenty of people were saying it was all rubbish and the OEM ones were fine.

I believe they were around £12 3-4 years ago vs £70+ for the Forge 007/8 units. You pay your money etc

But after X years and so many 000 miles a new DV is probably worth doing regardless

Worth reading the 1.8T tuning sections on the R-TEC Perfomance website as they're highly regarded in 1.8T tuning circles.

To quote them:

"You will also need a strong air tight diverter valve (DV) as the older standard valves are prone to fail and cause power loss and turbo lag. We recommend the upgrade Forge Motorsport 007p DV with yellow spring (£85) or the latest stock valve from the main dealers just ask for part number 06A145710N (£30)."

So the answer is you can use a standard or Forge 007/008 DV.

One of these was fitted to an Audi TT 1.8T 225 I bought many years ago second hand. It caused a warning light on the dash occasionally and I removed it due to the noise. Personal preference though of course, but just be aware of secondary issues like warning lights if not fitted correctly.
