Morning all.

Excuse the typo in the thread title. rolleyes

A lad at work has bought a 2014 Passat estate.

It wa only after having it a few weeks he then decided to do an mot history check and had discovered an advisory of both rear tyres worn smooth on the inner edge.

The car has done around 40,000.

I know fronts can wear in odd ways if the tracking is out but I’ve never seen rears do the same.

I was thinking Bent axle maybe but that wouldn’t make sense as it would be bent from the top.

Only think I can think of is that the car has spent most of its life loaded to the bump stops.

Any pointers?

I think this is the norm for certain vw products my mk5 gti did this as does Mrs Ubbs 2015 Octavia vrs estate, was advised to rotate the tyres front to rear more often. Something to do with the toe on the rear which is factory set and isn’t adjustable.

40k miles sounds about correct for a set of rears on a FWD Passat if they're still the originals!
