Folks, looking for a definitive answer on when the belt should be changed, there's so many different answers on the Internet, if anyone can point me to a schedule with an answer?

I'm looking at a 2012 plate.

Thanks in advance

Is it any different to the cars? Post 2009 VW say it's 5yrs - dealers tend to say 'regardless of mileage' as they assume most people will do normal mileage and don't want to put people off from getting it done at low mileage. My understanding is the limit is 140K miles.

I wondered what it said on the VW Van website so looked it up and it says:

"When should the cambelt be replaced on my Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle?
The recommended service intervals for your vehicle can be located inside your service schedule. Wear to cam belts will vary and are subject to driving style, types of use. Your Volkswagen Van Centre will advise when a replacement is required. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK recommend that you have your cambelt replaced every four years irrespective of driven mileage. Should you have any queries, please contact your nearest Van Centre."

I wonder what it says in the schedule? In my daughter's 2011 Golf the schedule said check the belt at 120K miles with no mention of age but everyone was absolutely adamant that it had to be changed at 5yrs even though the car had only done 50K.

By the way, it's standard practice to get the water pump done too, if it's driven by the cambelt on that model.

Fantastic, thanks for the help

I don't think it's ever been done, so sounds like regardless of miles it would be due on calender
