How Many Miles Are Polo's Capable of?
Discussion
So I've been looking to get a 2014ish VW Polo 1.4 TDI SEL for around £8,000.00 and have been struggling to find many within budget. I noticed there are a few quite a bit under my budget with around 70,000+ miles. How well are the Polo's built?
Does anyone have any knowledge regarding how well they age? I'll be doing around 30,000 miles a year, am I likely to encounter major problems?

I have a 2011 Polo 1.6TDI SEL.
Bought it 2 and a bit years ago with 37000 miles on the clock for £5750. Currently just hit 57000 miles today so not doing anywhere near your miles!
Really do like Polos, built like tanks with no creaks or rattles even at 7 years old! Had a 2006 1.2 before this one. The TDI VW’s love big Miles / Being driven. Unfortunately I have recently moved into the town center and the car is really hating the short stop start journeys. Don’t forget they have DPF’s that need to regenerate at least once a tank full of fuel/ 300 Miles! However with your mileage I doubt you would even notice this.
The only issue I had was an EGR failure, due to the previous owner doing 37000 miles short journeys in 6 years and the system getting clogged up. Apart from that it’s been wonderful, my average mpg is around 49 mixed town/countryside. On a quiet gentle cruise at 50mph will comfortably do 60-65mpg, around town stop start traffic mid to high 30’s. Just don’t pay any attention to the MPG statistics VW give you as they are all wrong.
It flys down the Motorway no problem sitting at around 2k rpm at 75mph, however don’t expect great MPG if you are doing high speed motorway runs, yesterday while cruising at around 80mph for 15 Minutes Average MPG was 45.
Around 450/500 miles to a tank.
