Hey all,

Ive had my 2008 Audi A5 3.0tdi manual for around 3 weeks and sadly have a problem with the car. it seems my car intermitantly loses power, the best way to describe it is when i floor the throttle, there is a half second lag and a sensation something is opening then i accelerate, some times it feels the car has lost power. The next day the car can feel brilliant and responsive.

any idea what this could be and/how i can correctly get this diagnosed without throwing money blindly at the problem?

Thank you.

Likely a boost issue with the turbocharger. Check that there are no codes from the engine first, to ensure its not the engine. Turbocharger is likely leaking air through some hoses linked to intercooler etc, so do a boost leak test.

Could be something as simple as an ancient, clogged up fuel filter. A proper diagnostic should be the first step as anything else will just involve throwing parts/money at it.
