Golf MK6 - Rust coming through the arches - will VW fix?
Discussion
I own a 2010 Golf GTD MK6 which I have just started to notice slight bubbling on the rear arches.
As far as I am aware these come with a 10 year paint warranty.
Has anyone had experience of VW honouring this and fixing the rust?
I seem to remember it being common on Mk5's but cant find any examples online for MK6's

I can’t offer any advice on whether it will get fixed, but my old 2011 gtd had surface rust on the very bottom lip of the rear arches (not bubbling though) - I just put it down to stone chips causing it and didn’t worry too much (the car wasn’t exactly spotless).
I’m surprised it has bubbled through as from what I remember there wasn’t actually much of a lip to hold dirt etc (which is normally the cause)

Paint warranty - 3 years
Corrosion warranty - 12 years.
As said above they check the paint thickness to confirm it's the original paint and the corrosion has to originate from the inside for them to honour the warranty. Any stone chips to the paint or lacquer in the area and they will decline
It was a big issue on MK5 Golfs but I thought they had resolved it by the time the MK6 came out. There was a sponge on thr inside of the wing and it held moisture causing the corrosion.
Worth familiarising yourself with the T&Cs of the warranty so you go.into the dealer armed.

This is the typical rust bubbles I’ve spotted.
At closer inspection There’s a bit on one of the inner door sills and along the bottom of the rear door too.
It’s tiny so you would hardly notice it if looking at the car unless you were a few inches from the paint (I have terrible eyesight though)
