Mk VI Golf 1.4 S Wobbly Idle and Possibly Low on Power
Discussion
My 2009 Golf 1.4 S doesn't idle as smoothly as it once did. It's more of an engine wobble than a rough idle.
It's been at the main dealer for 2 days and they've spent a couple of hours trying to diagnose but to no avail. There's no CEL and no fault codes logged. They've checked the timing belt position (and timing), spark plug gaps and injectors. Now, they want to start stripping it down to look at the camshafts, but I'm not so bothered.
The technician has road tested it and believes it is down on power too. It's an 80BHP 1.4 - I expect it to be down on power! This is subjective of course, and it hasn't been put on a dyno to see what it actually outputs.
I'm collecting it tomorrow as it is, but will borrow my mate's compression tester.
Has anyone had a similar issue with the 2009 petrol 1.4 (non-turbo) engine, please?
Thank you.
