Just looking for a bit of info into dpf removal and mapping.

Got my car booked in for it on Saturday at a reliable garage.

Starting to have second thoughts now..

Advantages and disadvantages??

Engine code CAYC

Thanks.

Disadvantage: illegal and will fail an MOT if caught.

If you're planning lots of urban running and short trips changing it for one of the small petrol engined cars would be a better bet. The 1.4T is actually pretty good fun in an A1 and capable of very good fuel economy.

If not leave the DPF well alone. Reinstating it when an MOT man spots it's missing would be a huge ballache.

Have you ever heard of diesel particulates. Removing the dpf increases them by 20 times...

The dpf is there to protect other people from your pollution so don't do it, you are absolutely right to have second thoughts.

So how many of you petrol car owners modify your engines and exhausts? Do you not think that might increase the emissions too?

DPF’s are all about Nox. Only the most modern petrol direct injection engined cars produce Nox in harmful levels and even then, way below diesels.

I’m very pro diesel in the right driving scenario but removing DPF’s is a very socially irresponsible thing to do. We all have to share the planet and it’s not about saving the planet, it’ll be here long after us. It’s about saving the environment that we can live it.
