Hi,

Noticed that the bulbs for the rear indicators and reverse lights are actually quite dim, partly due to them being squeezed into a small space. I am looking to replace the rear reverse and indicator lights, as well as the front indicator lights.

I have heard that there is a cold diagnosis function on the C6 platform, where the car performs a self test of checking all the bulbs by pulsing a voltage to them and checking for a closed circuit. It apparently causes the bulbs to flicker every 30 seconds or so when they are not in use.

Does anyone know any good, reasonably priced LED bulbs? Have heard of Cree being good but can't see any on eBay. Does anyone also know if the cold diagnosis thing is really an issue? It seems to be a large pain to install LED bulbs on this car if that is the case.

Car is an Audi A6 3.0 TFSI quattro 2009

Thanks

You can’t just replace the LED bulbs you would need to dismantle the light and re-solder new units on

The bulbs themselves are halogen ones just trying to put in leds in the place of the halogens. The brake lights are LEDs.

Update:

Auto electrician near me has told me this is illegal to do. Indicators that are halogen must remain halogen. Might just try and find some brighter alternatives.
Reverse bulbs can be done however, and they only need to be canbus friendly apparently.
