I picked up a lovely Audi B5 2.8 Quattro at the weekend. It’s really well spec’d. I want to see the full spec sheet as it left the factory.

I’ve contacted Audi UK with the vin and they’ve said they only keep records for 15years. That’s pretty poor in my book.

Anyone know a good vin decoder?

Thanks!

Only way I know of now is to purchase access to Audi elsaWIN or ETKA whatever it’s called. I think it’s like £6 for 1 hour.
There’s a feature on there which decodes VIN to see factory options. Also tons of workshop manuals and self study programmes if you want them.

There isn't a free VIN decoder as far as I'm aware.

If you send it to me I'll see what erwin shows for it and send it over to you.

Not sure if it will work on older cars, but on Myaudi it does list all the options once you have registered your car into it. You sure you haven't missed this somewhere on the site?

check standard or other options. I've used this with a few of my cars, even cars I'm thinking of buying and everything is listed correctly.

I've no idea how far back My Audi goes but the service has been very unreliable lately (the new version is worse than the old one by far).

It used to, I recently checked mine and whilst is still shows the car and VIN, it no longer shows standard/optional equipment and specs.

The cynic in me wonders if it's a move towards charging for a 'premium' version...

Lockable spilt fold rear bench
Plus all the usual

Big thanks to Dr G

I've got a 17 digit VIN of a car i'm planning to go and see but i can't seem to be able to get the spec online. Does anyone know of any online decoders that work?

Thanks

Unless you have access to Audi records as per Dr G above, you really need a copy of the sticker from the inside of the service book (if it has one) or the spare wheel well. It's made up of 3 character codes and there are websites/apps that will decode those.

If it's ex-lease probably best to assume it's 'poverty'/factory spec!

I have an app that decodes the sticker codes if you can get that from the seller?

The only one that works is Erwin, Audi's own portal. It isn't free but you can just buy an hour session for about 10 euros.

Or you can ask me; I always do them for PHers but can't always do it straight away.

Stupidly busy with work so rarely on here now.

Cheers, in the end i used my CSI enhance skills and could see it didn't have heated seats which was a deal breaker. Pity was it was nice otherwise with B&O and Pan-roof.

The search goes on ...

Heated seats can be quite a rare option, even with full leather - worth checking what option ‘packs’ include heated seats as might help ID suitable examples
