With apologies to Mr Hannon and for the parlous state of the inside of the ashtray on our newly-acquired Golf shed, what the dickens is this:



The knurled/notched wheel can be moved around in a circular manner, but I haven't the foggiest what it is/what it's for?

Hmm, could be, I'll have to experiment. The cover is there, it was closed when I bought the car, just opened it to check for a stash of £2 coins (sadly, absent!).
