Golf 1.6 tdi 2012 timing belt intervals

Hello there

I have just purchased a 2012 golf mk6 match and I wondered when the timing belt will be due on my vehicle. I keep getting mixed answers. Some people claims it’s 5 year or 120k and some people say 100k

Could anyone give me a bit of clarity on this please ?

What would be a realistic price for it to get done ? I’d opt to change the water pump while the mechanic was there.

5-years is definitely the time interval so if it hasn't been done yet it's overdue!

If I remember right it's 100k miles for a 1.6 TDI and 120k miles on the 2.0 TDI, but could be wrong! However it sounds like yours is due now either way.

I'd expect to pay £300 - £400.
