Hello chaps. Long time lurker, first time poster. Currently shopping around for a new GTI, and never having owned a Mk 5 before, wanted to pick your brains for advice.

What would be your take on this particular example from its listing information: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Anything to be on the look out for if I was to go give it a spin?

Much obliged, and look forward to chatting with you.

Expect to get the 'urban' mpg on everything except long motorway runs...! (unless you sit in eco mode - don't do that...)

Looks alright, but I'm always concerned when people blank out plates on adverts.

We sold my Mrs’ 08 GTI, manual with 67k on it for less than that. Fully original, leather and in better condition

I bought a DSG mk5 in March (3dr, leather, satnav) and have spent £1.5k so far sorting out patchy service history (hadn't realised quite how many holes there were in it when I bought it).

Sounds like this one has been better looked after than mine had been but check how long ago DSG oil service (£150) carried out as well as timing belt/water pump (£400).

Also check it gets to temperature and stays there, the thermostats (mine has 2, main and DSG) are pretty expensive to have replaced, ask me how I know....

Great car though.

Car in the advert is 48k miles and DSG, so not surprising it's more expensive? Unless you sold for significantly less?
