Hi all,

Purchased a '10 plate S3 a month ago and been having an intermittent issue with the clutch pedal.

Most of the time, it's fine but sometimes the pedal sticks down - I have to use my foot to pull it out again. It also seems extremely light some times; I'll put my foot down and it's like there's no resistance. The clutch still works though and doesn't seem to slip..

I've told the garage but they advised to just keep driving it and let them know if it gets worse. Is there any way to find out if there's something on it's way out other than driving around waiting for my warranty to expire?

Cheers,

va1o

I've had that on occasion with my '15 TT. They replaced the Clutch under warranty 6 months ago but it didn't fix the problem. Audi UK got involved then escalated to Audi Germany and no one seemed to have a solution. Luckily it doesn't seem to happen very often but isn't ideal...

First step bleed the clutch
If it still does it then it can be either

1) slave cylinder (which you need to remove gearbox to change)
2) release bearing
3) crank float (press clutch down with gearbox off you could see the shaft moving in/out)
4) clutch itself is faulty

Xjay is probably along the right lines with the slave cylinder, seems the most likely culprit.
