Hello, I have a 2007 Seat Leon FR Diesel with 146k miles on it. Around 3 or 4 months ago I had the cam belt changed along with the water pump by a friend. When he gave me the car back he told me to keep an eye on the water level due to having the pump changed. I am guessing he said this in case there was an air lock in the system?

8 days ago the coolant warning light was on so I topped up the coolant. I have done around 1k miles & this morning the warning light was on again. I have checked the water & although its a little rusty colour it isn't milky or anything. Just hoping it's not the head gasket.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Any signs of fluid on the floor?
Its not uncommon for new water pumps to start leaking after a few weeks, ive experienced this twice.

Not that I have seen although I have not really looked. I have just checked the oil cap & water bottle & there isn't any discoloured creamy gunk or anything which would suggest the head gasket failing.
