Golf R Seat Bolster
Discussion
Chaps, just picked up a used Mk7 Golf R and noticed the right hand side drivers seat hip bolster foam has pretty much disintegrated. I understand this has been an issue for VW, but having bought from an Indy I do not have a VW warranty (and I understand it's a lottery if they will sort anyway), so just wondered if anyone else has experienced this and if so was it a relatively easy fix by a vehicle upholsterer? If so, based in the Midlands, any recommendations?
Also noticed the steering wheel is about 5 deg off centre. Car tracks perfectly, so guess it just needs adjusting. It has a retrimmed alcantara portion on the wheel, so I guess it may even be that the wheel wasn't put back on straight.
Any thoughts or advice very welcome.

Mine too.
A 2013 Golf GTD.
Not too bad but you can feel the metal in the seat. It’s like the foam has split.I bought the car in May and didn’t spot the fault until I took it home.
I didn’t realize it was a problem, just thought it was the previous drivers being lazy getting out?
I will try the warranty route, Northampton is my closest dealer. Would be awesome if they sorted it.
If not will maybe live with it, I wonder if you can swap the passenger seat base over?
A friend recommended an upholsterer they used for their campervan, possibly near Alcester. I need to check, will come back to you on that.

He was quite pleased wth the results on the newish camper van so a simple repair should be within their skills.
I wonder if anything could be done to improve it? Maybe a better foam?
Please post your results if you get it repaired anywhere place/cost etc.
It might spur me on to get mine done.

Thanks Steve, same boat for me, didn't notice it until I got home. Seems like the foam insert has fallen to pieces and you can feel the steel frame. it's not actually uncomfortable, just annoying. I'll do some digging and let you know.http://www.mid-england-retrims.co.uk
