audi B8 exhaust tips - rolled or rat look
Discussion
can someone explain Audi's thinking re speccing(sp?) some of their cars with these exhaust tips/finishes?
just an opinion, but I think they look unfinished, kind've last minute and cheapens the look of the car. Especially when the vast majority are hanging down and sticking out about 2'' - sort've wheelborrow look?
Is this an Audi thing / sort've nod to old school??? Strange considering the attention to detail with other models exhaust, neatly recessed or built into bumper like R8/modern RS etc.
By retro fitting new shiny rolled ovals nicely recessed - am I 'selling out'?!
Edit to add - they left the factory like this - as opposed to 'happened over time'

Not entirely sure I understand the question.
If you're asking why some models have shiny exhaust finishers and some do not it'll be down to cost/marketing. The MK2 TT had slightly crappy looking mild-steel tailpipes early on but from launch there were nice stainless finishers in the accessories catalogue that we used to sell a good number of.
As for single/twin/twin-twin/twin oval it's *very* loosely by engine/model.
Little engine stuff got single or twins on the left.
v6/8/quattro/higher power got a single each side.
twin-twins are for S cars.
twin ovals are for RS cars.
